Crispy Hot Honey Chicken Tenders
Description: Crispy chicken tenders coated in a homemade hot honey glaze.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken tenders
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup hot sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon salt, 1 cup apple cider vinegar, and 1 cup water. Add chicken tenders and soak for 5 minutes. Drain and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Prepare the flour mixture: In a shallow dish, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- Prepare the egg wash: In another shallow dish, whisk together 2 large eggs and 1/2 cup milk.
- Coat the chicken: Dredge each chicken tender first in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the egg wash, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, dredge it back into the flour mixture, pressing to ensure it's well coated.
- Fry the chicken: Heat 3-4 inches of oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Fry the chicken tenders in batches for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oil and place on a wire rack to drain.
- Make the hot honey glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup butter. Stir in 1/2 cup hot sauce, 1/4 cup honey, and 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce. Squeeze in the juice of 1/2 lemon and whisk until combined.
- Glaze the chicken: Pour the hot honey glaze over the fried chicken tenders in a large bowl and toss to coat. Alternatively, drizzle the glaze over the chicken.
- Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
