Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, sugar, eggs, milk, and softened butter to the bowl. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Add chocolate chips and knead to incorporate.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and turn onto a lightly floured surface. Roll into a large rectangle.
- Cut dough into desired shapes (e.g., triangles for croissants, squares for danishes).
- Shape the dough pieces (e.g., roll up triangles into croissants).
- Place shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30-60 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with additional chocolate chips, if desired.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
