Easy One Bowl Soft Orange Cardamom Cookies
Description: These orange cardamom cookies get a boost from orange zest and warm cardamom, yielding a sugar cookie with crisp edges and a soft center.
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter (melted)
- 1½ cup granulated sugar (divided)
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp orange zest (from 1 medium orange)
- 1½ tsp ground cardamom (divided)
- 3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking soda
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large heatproof bowl, melt the butter. Add in 1 cup of granulated sugar and all of the brown sugar and vanilla extract and mix well. Beat in eggs until well incorporated.
- Zest the orange over the bowl and add ½ teaspoon of cardamom. Mix well.
- Add the flour and baking soda to the bowl and mix well.
- In a small bowl, combine ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom.
- Scoop generous tablespoonfuls of dough and roll into a ball. Coat the ball in the cardamom-sugar mixture and place on parchment-lined baking sheets about 2-3 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the bottom of the cookie is just starting to develop color.
- Allow cookies to sit on the baking sheets for an additional 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container. Cookies will soften with storage.
