The Best Chocolate Self-Saucing Mug Cake Ever
Description: Delicious chocolatey saucy dessert for ONE is just moments away. Be sure to use an oversized mug or dessert bowl as it does rise and can spill over!
Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons Plain White Flour
- 3 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1½ Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- ½ teaspoon Baking Powder
- 3 Tablespoons Milk
- 2½ Tablespoons Oil (or melted butter)
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Essence
- Pinch of salt
- 1½ Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Cocoa Powder
- 3 Tablespoons Boiling Water
Instructions
- Boil water in the kettle. Grease an oversized microwave-safe mug or dessert bowl and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the flour, sugar, first measure of cocoa powder, and baking powder until combined.
- Add the milk, oil, and vanilla essence, stirring until smooth.
- Scrape all the batter into the prepared oversized mug or bowl, leaving space for it to rise during cooking.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar and second measure of cocoa powder over the top.
- Carefully pour the hot water over the back of a spoon into the mug.
- Microwave for 80 seconds, or until the cake rises and bounces back when touched. Microwaves vary, so adjust if needed. Remove carefully as it will be hot.
- Serve warm with ice cream, cream, custard, or a dessert sauce.
- Enjoy!
