The Ultimate Thanksgiving Mac and Cheese
Description: The only mac and cheese recipe you'll need for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients
- 1 lb cavatappi pasta
- 1 lb mozzarella cheese
- 1 lb colby jack cheese
- 1/2 lb sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
- 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Gradually whisk in evaporated milk and heavy cream until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Stir in cheeses, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chicken bouillon powder, and Dijon mustard until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
- Add cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
- Serve hot.
