Warm Tofu with Spicy Garlic Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 cup chopped scallions
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Cut a block of firm tofu in half.
- Place the tofu pieces in a saucepan.
- Cover the tofu with water.
- Bring the water to a simmer.
- Turn the heat to low and keep covered for about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, mince one clove of garlic with a pinch of salt and transfer to a bowl.
- Add a quarter cup chopped scallions, two teaspoons toasted sesame seeds, three tablespoons soy sauce, one tablespoon sesame oil, and a half teaspoon of sugar to the bowl with the garlic.
- Stir together then add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes if you wish.
- After about 20 minutes, transfer the tofu to bowls.
- Spoon the spicy garlic sauce over the top.
- Serve immediately, optionally alongside broiled broccoli.
